Check below if you've not yet seen!

Don't forget we'd love to hear your Top Tips - that's why we're called Top Tip Tuesday!
If you make a card for our challenge and have any tip to add to your post, please do so - you've only got to mention the tip is for TTT and you'll get put into another prize draw...just remember to write 'TIP' next to your name in Mr Linky.
You can link up just a tip if you want to .....you don't have to make a project too!

Let's get those TIPS out there!

On to this week.....

It's my turn this week - Carol - and I'm sharing a tutorial that I wrote, well took the photos for, a long time ago but never had the opportunity to pass on! Yeah that's how mad I am - I was writing tutorials before I even had anyone to tell!!!
When Leanne asked me to join TTT I knew these pictures and a write up would at last see the light of day!
And today is that day!

This week's theme for the challenge is...

'One For The Kids'

Make any project for a child.

My tutorial to go with this theme is something I just LOVE making...

Nappy Cakes....

I've made many over the past 4 years. Ones for Girls, ones for boys, Christening ones, one for twins and even a Wedding one (but there were no nappies in that one - just towels!)

Here we go....

Nappy Cake Tutorial

What you'll need......

Loads of Nappies!
Cake Board
Mini clear elastic bands (used for hair)
Plastic or V.Strong cardboard tubing
Assortment of baby clothes, fluffy blankets and accessories
Assortment of safety pins

Roll lots of Nappies - I use about 65...
Use small clear elastic bands.

Assemble your bottom tier,
holding the nappies together with larger elastic bands whilst you go...
Use tube in the middle to stabilize the tiers as you build.

Take bottom tier off cake board and wrap in fluffy blanket...
Use large safety pins to fasten in place.

Place back onto board and reinsert tube...
Assemble middle tier in situ to ensure the sizing is correct.

Remove middle tier and wrap with chosen item...
Here I'm using a 'muslin' sheet. Fix with pins.

This looks too 'thin'

So add a vest - tucking in as you go to make tidy.

Make top tier with only a few nappies...
Wrap a Sleep Suit around, fixing with pins.

Add more clothes...
Tucking arms in and fixing with pins as you go.

'Encourage' top tier over tube...
this tube will offer stability whilst you move your Nappy Cake...

Sit a cuddly toy on the top - tie some ribbon around him and the tube....
Decorate the Nappy Cake with sock flowers for a girl and sock candles for a boy!

Make sure the back is as tidy as the front!
I've hidden the top of the tube here with a sock flower.

Sock Flowers...

Sock Candles...

Wrap your completed nappy cake to finish it off....

My Nappy Cake Top Tips...

DON'T use newborn sized nappies or clothes...
Mum will want to keep the cake up for a while and new babies always get loads of first size clothes. I use size 4 Nappies and 6-9 month clothes.

DON'T use cheap Nappies...
Especially if you're making them to order! I only use Pampers or Huggies - but you may have a different favorite brand.

DO add a Recipe Card showing what you used and the sizes...
I take a picture of the cake for the front of the card as a keepsake.
