Back to today's fun.......

Today I have done a tutorial on an Envelope Wallet - as you can see from the watermark on the pictures I did this AGES ago but have had a few requests for it. Obviously I wasn't going to take new photos as I already had them!

This type of wallet has loads of uses - and not only for sending between crafters.
How about making one from the children to their Grandparents and filling it with photo's, a keepsake book full of photo's/tickets and other memento's from a holiday, a gift to a child - fill each pocket with colouring pages. The ideas are endless - and I bet you come up with some that I've not thought of!

************************************************

Wallet Envelope
what you'll need....
A4 Card
x2 C5 Envelopes (office type best)

Seal both envelopes and place DST as shown.

Cut both envelopes in 1/2 as shown and add more DST to the other sides of 2 of the halves.

Place all 4 pieces together with now new envelope openings at one edge - the pieces with the 3 lines of DST are going to be the outside pieces, DST outermost. Arrange the pieces so that the 'T' shaped DST sections are all facing the same way - as long as you have the 3 stripes of DST on the outer sides you'll be able to see which way to place the others so all 4 pockets stick evenly before removing the backing paper from the tape. (take a look at the finished pic too - this might help)

Score your card down the centre to create a 5mm 'spine'
(if your card doesn't meet up perfectly when you close it just trim)

Add wet glue to the 'spine' of your envelopes
(the spine opposite the envelope openings!)
*SEE TOP TIP BELOW*
Place your envelope spine into your cover spine and remove the 3 strips of DST backing from each side - this will fix your pockets to the front and back cover of your wallet. Allow to dry.
To close your Wallet Card add a length of ribbon all around the outside before securing your image piece to the front - this will then act as a secure tie.
Notice the envelopes are not stuck together at the top, bottom and opening edges. DST is placed in the 'T' down the spine and horizontally across the center, this allows for a 'concertina' type action and avoids them being torn when the wallet is opened.

TOP TIP:
Wet Glue.........I'm sure most of you know this already, but I didn't till someone told me, so just incase there are a couple of you that haven't heard.....
Wet Glue makes for a much more secure fixing when sticking paper/card
The reason being the glue actually breaks down the fibres of the paper/card allowing them to 'mix' with the fibres in the opposing piece of paper/card.
They then dry as one piece, having created a 'fused fibre fix'.
Who wants to "Glue" when they can now "Fuse Fibre Fix"???

That sounds soooo technical doesn't it?

.....I know, I worry myself sometimes too!
