Greetings Everyone, it's Moriah here! Hope you had a lovely holiday season and are ready to roll up your sleeves for our next TTT tut! :) We're altering tins this week and would love for you to join us by either altering a tin of your own or by adding metal to your project for a chance to win some fab prizes. Here we go!
To start, I used a tomato paste can. I adore making mini projects and this can is a nice tiny one. Perfect for holding paint brushes, pens, or even a small bouquet. :)
Next, I peeled the label off, painted the can, and adhered some pattered paper scrap I had left over from some holiday tags I made (waste not ,want not!). I used all different kinds of paint to make cans like these. The specific brands this go round can be seen in the background of this pic. ;)
After I added the paper, I went over the edges with more paint and then cover the whole can with Gold Liqutex Interference paint. It gave the whole can a nice shimmer while still letting the base colors shine through.
I added Mod Podge to the whole can after the paint was dry, but this is a step you can skip. I only did that because I think I'll use this for a little winter bouquet and wanted to protect the paper from my clumsiness. ;)
Layered buttons make "feet" for the can, but again this is more for aesthetics than purpose.
Since Christmas is over. :( and I hate the naked feel when all the decor gets put away, I decided to go with ice skates for my main image. I need some post-Christmas bling in the house. :) Copics and Spicas were used to color the image with sponging of brown ink and some added snowflakes to really emphasize that wintry feeling.
Some ribbon to hang the skates tag and on to embellishing!!! (My fav part).
Voila! A fun little altered tin to chase away wintry blues! Hope you give this one a try this week and link us your project(s). We'd love to see them!
